You, the self-made artist
Note: although the texts of the mandala talk mostly of "the artist" in the singular form, they are equally valid to a music group.
Most of the time, music has been a co-creation, the result of the work of several people. These are not only the composer and the performer, but also the producer, recorder, manager, etc. Today you can be all of these parts yourself or many of them, without the need to study each of those skillsets for many years. This allows a wonderful world of possibilities: as long as you don't harm others, you can create yourself whichever way you choose.
If you are on this journey yourself or with a group of friends, it is important to spend some time on each of the different processes that are required to become a successful Do-It-Yourself-Artist (DIY or the self-made artist).
How to use the mandala
The mandala way is the way of consciously being a self-made artist. If you are conscious about this process, then you can choose the artist that you want to be, the music that you want to compose, the conditions under which you share your work and you will know your rights and can protect your work.
The mandala consists of four parts that are equally important. You might spend more time on one than on the other. You might delegate one part or the other, eg if you are working with a producer. One part might be more obvious for you than the other. All of those four parts are important and receive the same space on the mandala. Learn from those that you are least accustomed to, that you have not thought about that much. Create a balance through the mandala which allows you to unfold to your full potential just like the mandala unfolds to its full beauty.
While working with the mandala, you will strengthen yourself and your work, and build upon that to develop yourself further and to discover yourself further. Therefore it is important to work and be conscious of all of the parts that form your own personal mandala.
Each part of the mandala is further divided into three levels that are represented by the three circles of the mandala: the concept of each part, how this part can be done on Jamendo, and common issues that might arise. As you can see, this particular mandala is adapted to Jamendo and how Jamendo can help you to realize your own mandala.
Next step: Create your own mandala
If you are motivated by the image of the self-made artist we invite you to create your own mandala for yourself. It should consist of the same four parts: become, create, share, and protect. But the division and image of the four parts represent your own journey and are of your own design.
This can be a written mandala, where you divide a page into four parts and write down what every part represents to you and how you are working in them. This can be a painted mandala, whose meaning is only visible to you, but whose beauty is visible for everyone who sees it. Or maybe your mandala way is a way that we have not perceived yet.
Create your own mandala as you are becoming the artist, as you are creating your work, as you are sharing your music and learning from the insights gained from feedback. What does your mandala look like?
