Your track is rejected during moderation
Jamendo has a Licensing Catalog of over 240.000 tracks, which is a lot. We are currently not looking to drastically increase our Catalog but rather in increasing the quality of the Catalog.
A moderation process has therefore been put into place, in which all newly applied tracks are being moderated manually. Our music team is listening to each track individually and applies or rejects the track depending on several criteria.
Note: the criteria applied here are unique to Jamendo. Your tracks might be accepted on other licensing platforms, but rejected at Jamendo, or vice versa.

Reasons for refusal
If your track has been refused, it usually falls under one of the following criteria.
Note: it is sufficient to not comply with one of the following criteria to be rejected!
Limited commercial potential
Not every good track can be sold for the synchronization with videos and/or as background music for a public place. For In-Store, our customers are looking for happy, feel-good music that they can put in the background of their store. And most of our Catalog customers are searching for music that can be used in an advertisement (happy, empowering, upbeat, corporate) or that can be used in action videos (epic, adventurous, etc.). Tracks that have no or little commercial potential can be rejected. Those include, among others:
- sad/dark mood,
- experimental music, noise,
- genres that are not in demand.
Music production issues
Commercial tracks require a high level of production. Tracks that have background noise or problems with the recording will be rejected. Other production issues can be related to deficiencies in:
- rhythm,
- harmony,
- melody,
- voice,
- recording/mixing quality.
Copyright content
On Jamendo, you can only upload tracks of which you are the sole right holder. Tracks are rejected if they are or have:
- covers,
- samples,
- remixes,
- watermark.
Non-musical content
Any spoken audios, guided meditations, publicities, or newsreels will be rejected.
Non-appropriate lyrics
In Catalog and In-Store music is used commercially and can therefore not contain any lyrics that are not appropriate. Non-appropriate lyrics that are rejected can be:
- explicit, vulgar,
- racist, defamatory,
- aggressive,
- political,
- strongly religious,
- non-commercial (e.g. "I hate shoes").
Can I apply my track again?
If your track has been rejected, you can edit it, remix it, and upload it again for a second moderation. But do not simply reupload your track without modifying it. It will be refused a second time.
Note: Jamendo does not provide you with a personal review of your track. Moderations are final and will not be reconsidered.
